Description

Regis Jesuit High School is committed to ensuring that its employees, key volunteers, and parents receive ongoing formation within the school’s Catholic, Jesuit charism for their own personal growth in their faith, and so that they may become more effective Ignatian educators of our students. We will be hiring a Director of Adult Formation to begin in mid-July 2023. This is a .8 position with the potential to teach .2, if available. The starting salary for the Director of Adult Formation is $58,000, commensurate with experience. The teaching portion of the salary will be based on education level and years of experience using the 23-24 faculty salary scale. The position is eligible for full benefits. Summary

The Director of Adult Formation leads and oversees the formation of all adults within the Regis Jesuit Community by providing a variety of opportunities for adult community members to gain deeper knowledge of the Catholic tradition and Ignatian Spirituality. The Director of Adult Formation is a member of the Regis Jesuit Mission Team, and reports directly to the Assistant Principal of Mission, Ministry, and Diversity.

Essential Job Functions

General:

  • Partner with the President, Principal, Jesuit Superior of Regis Jesuit, Assistant Principal of Mission, Ministry, and Diversity to promote the school’s mission Catholic, Jesuit Charism, and Ignatian spirituality among all adult constituents of the community.
  • Create, implement, and regularly assess formation activities in Ignatian spirituality, Catholic catechesis, and Jesuit education pedagogy for all adults on our campus.
  • Oversee and direct employee formation events including annual retreat, \employee reflection days, spirituality mornings, and in-service opportunities as needed.
  • Work with team leaders (including school leadership teams), department chairs, and other managers to plan and provide formative activities for these teams.
  • Collaborate with President on formation of Board of Trustees.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Principal for Faculty & Curriculum and other Mission Team Directors on faculty formation.
  • Facilitate formation opportunities such as Ignatian Evenings, Retreats in the Workday, Spiritual prayer opportunities, Catholic Catechesis, etc.
  • Establish and catalogue formation expectations for all employees.
  • Collaborates with the Jesuit Superior and AP of MMD on introducing and inviting adults to learn and experience the Spiritual Exercises per the Jesuit Community Spiritual Exercises Endowment Fund.
  • Manage a program budget.
  • Serve as ex officio member of the Mission and Ignatian Stewardship sub-committee of the Board of Trustees.

Spiritual Formation and Catholic Catechesis for New Employees:

  • Implement a yearlong required Ignatian Formation program for all first year and second year Ignatian Educators at Regis Jesuit focusing on Ignatian Spirituality and Catholic Catechesis including teachings, themes, pedagogy, and praxis.
  • Create and lead an annual retreat for both first year and second year Ignatian Educators as part of the overall NIE and SYIE programs.
  • Meet and engage individually with each NIE and SYIE in their first two years at RJHS for individual and personal spiritual formation opportunities.
  • Create and implements required formation programs for all adult employee on campus based on their years at RJHS in concert with their formal evaluation schedule and their stage of Jesuit spirituality (Ex: years 1-2, 3-5, 6-10, and 11+)

Additional Formation Projects:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources and Assistant Principal of MMD to create and implement Mission Leave opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Pastoral Ministries to form and prepare adult leaders of student retreats.
  • Work with the Assistant Principal of Student Life to create and implement a chaplain program for all RJHS athletic programs.
  • Work with the Assistant Principal of Student Life and the Athletic Director on formation of coaches.
  • Collaborate with Mission Team coaches and athletic programs to incorporate immersions and other student-athlete formation activities.
  • Lead the Profile of the Ignatian Parent program and other opportunities for parent formation in our Catholic, Jesuit mission.
  • Support the Office of Human Resources incorporating formation into mandated training programs including volunteer orientation, Protecting God’s Children training, and other events at Regis Jesuit.
  • Facilitate enrichment work with graduates of the Ignatian Leadership Seminars Program.
  • Collaborate with external partners including the Ignatian Spirituality Program of Denver, Sacred Heart Retreat House, and other Jesuit apostolates in the Denver area.
  • Collects, assesses and promotes resources for Ignatian formation and identity from local, regional, national, and global sources, including from Denver Jesuit works, the JSN, the UCS Province, and the offices of the Jesuit Curia.
  • Collaborates with Jesuit Schools Network, the Denver Jesuit Regional Apostolates, and the UCS Province on issues of formation and Jesuit spirituality with the Jesuit secondary schools.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Required/Preferred Skills)

  • Must be a practicing Catholic, have experience in spiritual formation within the Catholic, Jesuit tradition, especially as it relates to Catholic Jesuit education, experience working in schools, and in youth and adult spiritual/religious formation.
  • Post-graduate education in Spirituality/Theology, formal training in spiritual direction, experience in and knowledge of the Spiritual Exercises and Ignatian spirituality preferred.
