Description

Regis Jesuit High School is seeking an Assistant Principal for Faculty & Curriculum to begin in the 2022 - 2023 school year. Position closes January 31, 2022.

The Assistant Principal for Faculty and Curriculum Development is responsible for curriculum development, implementation, student assessment and faculty supervision and formation. This position must work closely with the Principal, Division Heads, Assistant Principal for Academics, Assistant Principal for Student Support and the Assistant Principal for Mission Ministry and Diversity. This position provides direct supervision of the Department Chairs.This is a full-time, year-round position with full benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and 403(b) matching. The starting range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000, dependent upon experience. 

Essential Job Functions (Responsibilities)

Curriculum

  • Coordinate the review and development of curriculum
  • Conduct evaluation of the curriculum to ensure course goals and objectives are met
  • Research and present information regarding curricular trends and ways to improve the curriculum to better prepare students for the future
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and authenticity of course assessments, such as the final exam.

Faculty Development

  • Coordinate the faculty supervision and formation process, in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, which includes goal setting, support, and evaluation.
  • Monitors and measures both the growth and evaluation of faculty.
  • Conduct frequent classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers, both formally and informally.
  • Assist with the hiring, assigning, renewal, and related personnel decisions for all faculty.
  • Assist the Principal in the recruitment of faculty
  • With the Formation Team, plan and conduct all training for first- year teachers and teachers new to the community
  • Plan faculty in-service and training programs for new teachers and continuing in- service/education of all teachers especially in the areas of curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Communicate professional development opportunities to faculty and staff

Department Chair Development

  • Oversee Department Chairs
  • Support, form, and evaluate Department Chairs
  • Assist Department Chairs in preparing individual academic department budgets
  • Assist Chairs in visioning and prioritizing initiatives for their department
  • Coordinate and attend all meetings of the Department Chairs
  • Assist building and executing the programs of the Curriculum Institute and Chair Camp

Administrative

  • Serve as a member of Formation Team
  • Coordinate the licensure process in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources
  • Prepare the Professional Development Budget with input from the Principal and track all expenditures for the budget
  • Initiate conversations with faculty regarding master’s degree tuition reimbursement and ensure all policies and procedures regarding the tuition reimbursement program are followed, in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources
  • Track teacher licensure in partnership with the Director of Human Resources
  • Participate on the ELC and attend all meetings
  • Oversee Education Technology
  • Represent the school to accrediting agencies and coordinate the accreditation visits from the Cognia and other agencies with the Assistant Principal for Academics.
  • Act as an academic liaison with local, state, and national educational agencies.
  • Maintain regular contact with other Jesuit schools and the Jesuit Schools Network and its commissions.
  • Support facilitation of attendance to JSN events including Colloquium, Leaders in the Middle, leadership seminars, NIE retreat and other programming.

Other

  • Contribute to the spiritual values and activities of the school. This includes the promotion of the Ignatian vision and mission of the school.
  • Maintain positive relations with other local schools and participates in meetings of the Catholic high schools and meetings of all local assistant principals for curriculum and supervision
  • Assist the Principal and other members of the ELC in planning graduation activities
  • Supervise athletic/activity programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

Requirements (Education, Experience, Required/Preferred Skills)

  • Commitment to the principles of Jesuit education as set forth in Regis Jesuit’s mission statement and the “Profile of the Jesuit High School Graduate at Graduation”
  • Minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience
  • Master’s degree in education-related field
  • Prior administrative experience
  • Administrative licensure or be working towards completion of licensure
  • Capable of working collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Willing to be an important part of developing a vision on all levels, especially in regards to the development of faculty
