Description

Regis Jesuit High School is seeking an Associate Director of Ignatian Service and Immersion to begin in the 2020 - 2021 school year. This is a .8 position with a separate .2 contract for teaching, if available.

Associate Director of Ignatian Immersion and Formation implements, coordinates and assesses all Ignatian immersion programs for all Regis Jesuit students throughout their four years of high school. This position collaborates with the director of service immersion to implement all formation efforts from these immersion experiences along with assessing their formational impact on the Regis Jesuit community at large. This includes all aspects of the Catholic, Jesuit mission, but specifically pertaining to the Jesuit Apostolic Preferences. This position is part of the Ignatian service immersion office in conjunction with and reports directly to the Director of Ignatian Service and Immersion.

Essential Job Functions

Institutional Strategic Vision

  • Supervises a staff working in the Ignatian Immersion and Formation office.
  • Chairs a committee that assists in creating the vision of immersion formation at Regis Jesuit and oversees the implementation of that vision.
  • Serves on a committee that meets regularly to ensure that the institution engages the four Jesuit apostolic preferences as part of mission conveyance at Regis Jesuit.
  • Completes an annual Summative Formation with the Director of Ignatian Service and Immersion.
  • Regularly communicates and works with Director of Ignatian Spirituality and Formation on personal formation.
  • Ignatian Immersion Programming
  • Oversees and is involved in the coordination of all immersion programming at Regis Jesuit High School.
  • Creates an institutional plan to incrementally transition the current service project site program into a more immersion-based program that ensures at least one immersion experience for each Regis Jesuit student.
  • Works with the director of service immersion office to provide clear criteria in the form of an institutional rubric on the Regis Jesuit vision of immersion formation to assess a student's immersion experience.
  • Implements a plan for monitoring Ignatian immersion of all RJHS students in collaboration with the office and faculty/staff.
  • Visit and participates in various immersion sites to support their work and maintain good relationships between the school and the placements.
  • Keep accurate and updated catalogued data of student immersion participation, community partnerships, opportunities, and costs.
  • Other assignments as assigned by the service immersion director.

Student Formation through Immersion

  • Works with Service Immersion office and Regis Jesuit Staff to create an extensive ongoing formation process for students, parents, and staff participating in immersions.
  • Provide guidance and a discernment process for students to follow if they are unsure of their immersion placement.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Ignatian Spirituality and Formation to ensure an Ignatian Spirituality component in every Regis Jesuit immersion experience.
  • Works with various Regis Jesuit departments/offices to promote, support, and co-sponsor immersion student programming and formation at Regis Jesuit and with community constituents involved; this could include activities, athletics, mission team, formation team, and advancement
  • Works with the foreign language department to create and support possible future student exchange programs both local, national, and international. This includes overseeing student/staff formation throughout.

Community Formation and Impact through Immersion

  • In collaboration with the Director of Ignatian service and immersion, works directly with community constituents on visioning for the Ignatian immersion opportunities and the building of sustainable community partnerships with Regis Jesuit.
  • Working with mission programs such as pastoral, diversity, and Ignatian formation to ensure the aspects of the Regis Jesuit mission are actively integrated within Immersion formation efforts.
  • Works with the director of service immersion, the office of faculty and curriculum, and Regis Jesuit academic department chairs to create courses and curriculum that animate the immersion efforts within the context of their content area.
  • Explores and seeks to connect Ignatian Service Immersion with the four Apostolic Preferences in deeper intentional ways.
  • Through immersion formation, works with Regis Jesuit students, staff and parents to address present and future global economic, ecological, and human rights challenges in a constructive and creative manner utilizing Catholic social teaching and pertinent documents including Laudato Si.

  • Commitment to the principles of Jesuit education as set forth in the Regis Jesuit Mission Statement and the “Profile of the Jesuit High School Graduate at Graduation”.
  • Capable of working collaboratively.
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, parents and administration.
  • Willingness to be an important part of developing a vision for Regis Jesuit.
