Description

Regis Jesuit High School is seeking a School Therapist to begin in August 2021.

The School Therapist provides direct mental health and wellness services and case management to students; assists in the development and delivery of school-wide mental health and wellness interventions, programs, and trainings. The School Therapist collaborates with counselors, educators, parents and other professionals to create safe, healthy and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school and the community for all students.

Essential Job Functions (Responsibilities)

  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral health
  • Provide direct services to individuals or groups of students (e.g., counseling, crisis interventions, developing safety plans, providing stress management techniques)
  • Provide consultation, evaluation, intervention, prevention and research and planning around mental health
  • Serve as vital link between the students, parents, school counselors, administration and teachers
  • Help others understand more about child development, behavioral problems, and behavioral management techniques, possibly through in-service presentations, etc.
  • Work with individual students and groups of students to deal with behavioral problems, academic difficulties, disabilities and other issues; work with teachers and parents to develop techniques to deal with home and classroom behaviors
  • Design and implement academic and behavior interventions in conjunction with school counselors and administrators
  • Integrate within the school-wide culture and system- in-services, retreats, services etc.
  • Participate in planning and/or implementation of school crisis response

Requirements (Education, Experience, Required/Preferred Skills)

  • Masters in Counseling Psychology or similar degree
  • LPC or LCSW or similar licensure required
  • Experience working with teenagers and families, as well as individual and group therapy
  • Faith-based therapy experience valuable
  • Spanish speaking helpful
  • Experience in working with culturally diverse populations
